The 52nd Nova Scotia Gem and Mineral Show is Aug 18-20 in Parrsboro. Over 30 vendors will be at the Parrsboro Lions Recreation Center daily from 10-5. Check their facebook page for more information.

The Pugwash Fire Department’s Mackerel Fishing Tournament is Sat and Sun Aug 19 and 20. There are cash prizes for the 4th biggest fish, including $500 for first place. There will also be prize draws following the final weigh ins Saturday and Sunday in Eaton park. And a BBQ Sat...

The Wentworth Wild Blueberry Harvest Festival is Sunday from 9-3 at the Firemen's Recreation Centre in Wentworth. There will be a car show, Quilt show and sale, Blueberry café, local vendors including Triders Craft Beer, and a slip n' slide put on by the Wentworth Volunteer Firemen.

The Malagash Area Heritage Association is holding their 19th Annual Sandcastle Festival on Sunday August 20th at The Blue Sea Beach, 660 Blue Sea Road, Malagash from 11-4.  Prizes for the most original creations in Commercial, Family, Teen and Under 12 categories.  Call 902-257-2407 for more information.

There’s An Evening of Music, Sunday Aug 20 at 7 at the West Amherst Point Baptist Church. This week featuring Lawrey and Mary MacLeod and Silver Rose. The music starts at 7, with a light lunch afterward. Admission is a free will offering.
